Some people HATE breeding, hate sorting out EVs, IVs, movesets, etc. I haven't ever traded for a hacked or genned pokemon so don't knock much about owning one. Abusing the game to get perfect Pokémon has always been a thing-- if we're shouting out Ray Rizzo, where's the mention of VGC 2014's World Champion Se Jun. genned pokemon can be worth it if you aren't into breeding, and you need only 1-2 specific pokemon and its $1 each or something, especially if you're into the competitive battling scene. This can result in day working on one non rather than the 2-3 hours with a Genned Pokemon. Breeding a genned pokemon with a pokemon you caught makes a legit pokemon, in the off chance the ditto is genned, the pokemon it makes are still legit. The person I traded with isn’t the OT. What I do have a problem with is genned Pokemon that can't breed. The data looked at recent teams fielded by pros and found that barely 50 percent of them were legal under the current rules of the game. 10+ shinies are not a big enough sample size to conclude that.
